Children with autism can receive many different types of therapy such as speech/language, motor, and occupational. The most beneficial form of therapy , however, may prove to be music therapy. Music therapy is set apart from other therapies because of the natural connection and feelings that music creates. Music therapy is great for children with autism as it is able to grab and hold their attention and help them improve in many different areas. A combination of all therapies typically yields the best results. Music therapy engages kids allowing them to become more comfortable socially and have an easier time learning. Children benefiting from music therapy have demonstrated improvement in the following areas:
- Improved communication
- Greater social skills
- Higher levels of attention
- Greater ease when learning
